The 45,000 square foot community center exists to meet the needs of the community through recreation, health, wellness, water safety, environmental education, and the creative arts. The center will serve the citizens of Pender County and surrounding areas.
The two pools within the center will serve the community by providing recreation, safety and sports outlets. 
Pool #1 will consist of a 20 X 25 yard warm-water therapy pool. This will be the only pool of its kind in the region and will provide a special service to rehabilitation patients and people with disabilities to safely explore range of motion and build confidence. 
Pool #2,  The 50 meter, 23 lane, Olympic size pool provides recreation, water safety classes, swim team, water polo, scuba instruction, kayak lessons and lap swimming to any interested parties. This pool provides 23 lanes for simultaneous activities to exist to meet the varying needs of the community. 


Thanks to our LEED certified builders, our center will have the highest environmental standards.

*Solar panels will heat the pools and provide electricity. 
*Gray Water System will recycle water fountain, sink and shower water for irrigation at the Topsail School Campus.
*Rain Water Harvesting System will collect up to 50,000 gallons of rainwater used for irrigation or fire stations. 
 *Solar powered faucets will be used with integrated photo cell that transforms light into electrical energy, this faucet has an 0.5 gpm, which is the highest level of water efficiency.
 *Energy efficient hand dryers, which are sensor operated and use 80% less energy than traditional hand dryers.
*Men’s bathrooms will be water free urinals; this entails maximum efficiency with no water use at all. 
* All toilets are environmental as well as the urinals.
*The toilets are designed with no flapper to leak or replace, and using 20% less water than a standard 1.6 gpf toilet.
*LEED ratings for Nucor Metal Buildings are consisted of three main components to maximize points on LEED projects. 
                                1) Nucor Building Systems buildings are made from Nucor Steel, which is made using scrap metals. 2) Steel in Nucor Building Systems use 80% recycled material.
3)The Nucor Building Systems offer two standard Exterior roof Finish Options that far exceed LEED Solar Reflectance, which has a requirement of 78% reflectivity.

We are also using a new innovative paint to meet expectations without compromise.
The coatings meet our highest standards for air quality, VOC emissions, and life cycle cost efficiency, durability, and coverage.
Along with the Coatings that we are using we are also incorporating in DensArmor sheetrock which is paperless interior drywall, a very high resistance to mold.
